OUR MISSION IS TO PROMOTE THE IMPORTANCE OF TAKING PRIDE IN OUR NATURAL HAIR
FroGang is often asked: "What's the big deal with having a fro?"
And then we turn on the television and see so many advertisements and displays of straight, relaxed hair, and weave options being offered to us daily. Images of success, beauty, professionalism, and conformity are programmed into our subconscious from an early age. Music videos, movies, and magazines all promote styles that are not natural to the original growth patterns of many People of African Descent. Here at FroGang we are united by our collective decision to resist the popular standards of beauty and normalize afros as a bold statement of inner liberation.
LED BY VISIONARY AND FOUNDER: MS. KELLI SHAKUR
Kelli Shakur is a 35-year-old mother of two sons. She created FroGang due to the lack of representation of natural hair she witnessed in the media, and her observations of black hair not being accepted, promoted, and encouraged.
Ms. Kelli started off with FroGang as a hashtag in 2016, and then in 2017, God gave her the vision to create a visual display that could change the way black women view their natural hair for generations to come.
